An overview of the main Taoist Temple in Hanoi

For hundreds of years, the Taoist Temple was located on the side of West Lake. It was easy to realize from the gate with the four tall pillars which the travelers can meet in another Temple in Hanoi. On the pillar wall, you can see a beautiful dragon and tiger pattern. It's so fantastic.

Look into the three-passage gate, that is one of the formal tradition architecture in Vietnam, there is a lot of Buddhism symbol such as Ly dragon in the roof, an 8 parts circle... Go inside, we meet two elephant statues in the left and right, a stele, and many ancient trees.

In the main area, the Temple has different rooms for the worshiping purposes. They have an impress of red color, this color didn't change through hundreds of years.

The most special in this temple is the Huyen Thien Tran Vu statue. This statue was made from a very good kind of copper in 1677. It had a snake on the sword in the back of a turtle, a symbol of the Taoist.

The location of the Taoist Temple in Hanoi
The famous Taoist Temple is in the crossroad of Quan Thanh and Thanh Nien street, near the West Lake and Truc Bach lake. It 15 minutes far from Hanoi Old Quarter via taxi or 10 minutes from Ba Dinh square by walk. Most of the tourists come here on a tour with Tran Quoc pagoda, that more than 5 minutes toward the north.

It opens daily from 7:30 AM to 17:00 PM. In the 1st and 15th day of the Lunar calendar, it opens from 7:00 AM to 19:00 PM for the worshiping demand of the local people.
